More Power
The new HiLux has increased power across the range. In fact, it’s streets ahead! The introduction of VVT-i to the 2.7 litre means the 4 cylinder 4x2 Work Mate delivers 118kW of power (241Nm torque). Meanwhile, the 3.0 litre Electronic Direct Injection (EDI) turbo diesel delivers 120kW of power (343Nm torque). And the newly introduced – and very potent – 4.0 litre petrol VVT-i V6 4x4 delivers 175kW (376Nm torque auto / 343Nm torque manual), making the HiLux 41%* more powerful than ever before! It’s even available on the 4x2…

Increased Towing Capacity
Along with all the extra grunt comes plenty of extra pulling power. With trailer brakes, the new HiLux can tow a very hefty 2250kg – a 22% improvement on the previous model. So whether you’re touring with the family, boating with the boys, or simply hauling a big payload, you’ll have the brawn to do the job with ease.
4x2 or 4x4
As you’d expect, the new HiLux is available in both 4x2 and 4x4 models (with 3 engine types, 3 body styles (Single, Xtra Cab, Dual Cab), and 3 models (Work Mate, SR, SR5). And there’s no prize for guessing that the 4x4 is a real 4x4! Up to 217mm of ground clearance is just the start. It also features rust resistant steel sheets throughout its panelling, a highly rigid and very lightweight body structure, and a one piece chassis with a thick side rail and strategic reinforcements for maximum torsion rigidity, off-road stability, and ride comfort.
Drives & Handles Almost Like a Car
The new HiLux is still about as rugged as they come, but you’d never know from the inside. In fact, it’s so spacious, so comfortable, and so smooth, if it wasn’t for your bird’s eye view of the road, you’d almost think you were driving a car!
- VVT-i – The intelligent Toyota Variable Valve-Timing system (VVT-i) optimises performance across the engine revolution range and minimises emissions.
- AI-SHIFT Control – All V6 autos now feature AI-SHIFT Control (Artificial Intelligence Shift Control) which continuously monitors vehicle speed, engine speed, and acceleration and automatically adjusts the shift pattern to suit.
- Road Condition Support Control – Gear shifts are further optimised by Road Condition Support Control on all V6 autos. By monitoring road conditions, Road Condition Support Control reduces the number of changes required, improving drive comfort.
- Double wishbone front suspension – Boasting a newly developed double wishbone front suspension and a combination of leaf spring and twin tube shock absorbers on the rear, the new HiLux delivers outstanding steering stability and ride comfort.
- Engine-sensing power steering – Thanks to an advanced engine-sensing rack and pinion power steering configuration, steering is natural and ‘car-like’.
- Low NVH – Noise, vibration and harshness are greatly reduced thanks to reinforcements in the back deck, back panel, and floor, as well as enhanced aerodynamics, a highly rigid body structure and steering column, an under-body noise vibration patch, and heaps of sound proofing in and around
the cabin.
