TOYOTA AUSTRALIA RECALLS LANDCRUISER PRADO VEHICLES DUE TO ELECTRIC BRAKE CONTROLLER

Toyota Australia has today announced that it will initiate a safety recall involving certain LandCruiser Prado vehicles produced between 24th June 2024 – 3rd October 2024 (inclusive). There are approximately 524 vehicles involved in the Australian market.

The involved vehicles may be equipped with an optional accessory Electric Brake Controller. Due to an error in the fitting instructions for this accessory, the Lower Driver’s Airbag Assembly (removed during accessory fitment) may have been reinstalled using the incorrect torque. This may cause the bolts to loosen and the airbag may not deploy as designed in the event of a collision which could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will inspect for presence of an Electric Brake Controller and if required, complete the recall free of charge to owners.

Completion of this recall will take approximately 1 hour. Depending on the Dealer's work schedule, owners may be required to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.

Toyota Australia will contact all owners of involved vehicles to provide details of this safety recall campaign. Owners are asked to keep their contact details up to date with Toyota so future communications can be received.

Owners with additional questions or concerns are asked to please contact their local/preferred Toyota Dealer in the first instance or the Toyota Recall Campaign Helpline on 1800 987 366 (Mon-Fri 8.00am-7.00pm AEDT). Please quote your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
